Miniature Action Figure and Models

It's fascinating how my interest have shifted in the last couple of years. I used to have a fixation on the 1/6 scale of action figures. The 12 inch figures are great display pieces due to their size and the amount of detail that can be easily worked into the figures. Bigger figures are actually easier to make due to the , well ease of how to incorporate joints, and less fiddly manner in handling bigger pieces and components. Smaller figures requires more patience when it comes to making the head sculpts, joints and other finer details

This was an early sample of my action figures. It was blocky and chunky. The proportions were way off as well.

Then I got interested in the 7 inch line of figures like the one I made below.

I found that the Seven in scale is a very good scale to continue my hobby of making paper craft action figures. It still big enough to make a very good display and saves space on my display stand.

One day, I suddenly got the inspiration to make Warhammer action figures in miniature scale and found the it was a real blast to make and design action figures in the three inch scale.

I could make space marines and design them as different units. I could make their Mechs, ships, weapons and other fun stull like I was playing my own tabletop War hammer RPG
My models are always evolving and my head is just full of different ideas! Hope I can make time to actually make all of them all.

Rocket Angel Miniature Action figure Made with Paper and Glue

I don't know when I started getting addicted to making miniature paper craft action figures. It's a kick seeing RTS units in the paper flesh on my display stand.

The Warhammer figures were a delight to make and play with but the smaller scale figures like the rocket Angel are difficult to make. The slender limbs at such a small size is difficult to make and add articulation to. However, after much trial and error, my first prototype is here.

Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain Venom Snake papercraft action figure

Here is the result of my latest endeavor.

A fully articulated and virtually seamless papercraft action figure of Big Boss as inspired by his look in Metal Gear Phantom Pain

Here is Snake in the middle of the crafting process. Still devoid of paint and missing a few appendages.

These are the pins of the joints that will eventually become the anchor for his arms and legs.

The paper mache shells of his arms and legs
Shoulder and elbow joints

This has really been a fun build and I am getting the process more and more streamlined.

Lion O paper craft action figure

This is my latest project. 80s kids will remember this character as the Lord of the Thundercats.

I've shifted from the 1/6 scale to 1 / 10 scale. The smaller 7 inch figures are easier to make and consumes less materials.

Still, they are big enough to have lots of details and make a pretty nice display piece.

The process is in the video below.

He's not done yet. I have to finish his arms and add armor and weapons.

Still have to make the sword of omens with the eye of Thundera.

( Update 18/02/2023)

Added a new video showing the complete action figure.

Enjoy!
